Main entrance: The course was crowded, even at 8am, but all lines went quickly. Volunteers were everywhere, and had come from all over the world to work the event. One volunteer told me he had been coming from Iowa for 30 years. All volunteers are allowed to play the course the last week in may. The club hosts a party for volunteers before closing for the summer. Unknown to many, Augusta National is a winter course. It opens in October, and closes in May. The bentgrass greens cant take the heat of summer, and there is just no financial inventive to stay open.
