winston churchill---THE superstar of the 20th century. we would tour the underground war room in the background there. because of german bombing, the government was run from deep concrete bunkers. no pictures, of course. one very funny note.....in one of the war rooms, on the wall was a budget report of churchill's monthly alcohol and cigar expenses. in feb, 1938, the expense was $80 per/mo. by 1941, the expense was over $500 per/mo. btw, the concrete bunkers were built to withstand 500lb bombs being dropped by the germans.
