part of the sorbonne, a university with over 200,000 students. the french have a deep history of intellectual thought. as the barbarians edged out the romans in 400ad, the abbots at universities kept the educational tradition alive. of course, our ideas of freedom and individual liberty all came from french thinkers and were justification for our own revolution when leaving english rule in 1776. this, of course, wouldn't have been possible without the help of the french, who hated the english even more than we did.
