we were meeting at the tube station for our first "paris-walks". our guide is there with the clipboard. she was from minnesota and had been in paris the last 20yrs. we pay $12E for 3hrs of walking. this tour was "the latin quarter" and it was a doozy. i woke up the next day and neighorhood looked completely different. we read on one of the statues an inscription that read "after bread, education is the first need of the people". some guy named danton said that in the 1700's, and it was still true in our cases.
