oh boy, our first night out, and i let the waiter choose what i ate. i was so out of it and didn't know what anything meant, i just gave him the green light. this was my "starter". the toast and lettuce were palatable, but ths spam looking stuff was fois gras, which means loosely duck liver fat. it tasted about like it looked. i pawned most of it off on peg. now, as to the dark things, i couldn't help thinking about walking my dog hoot in the mornings. i left it till the waiter told me it was made of grapes, then i ate a bit just not to piss him off. i was hoping this wasnt forshadowing of all french food, and it definitely wasnt. my main course was lamb, and it was delicious. peg and i were pretty out of it by then, around 7pm. i actually said "gracias" to the waiter. yikes, a definite "ugly american" moment!!!! treehuggers in the US are attempting to outlaw fois gras on the premise the ducks are force fed their food to make them unusually fat so they can get more liver fat! i think i'd join the movement against fois gras! Go Ducks, stay skinny!
