we learned the subways, choosing not to spend on cabs. it's a very satisfying, sometimes frustrating experience. every day got easier.. a ticket was $1.70E for anywhere as long as you stayed in the subway and didn't exit. so for about $5.00 a day, you could go anywhere. of course, parisians had gov support and didn't pay that. one parisian lady told me if you reached the 'magic mark' of 4 kids, you didn't pay for subways at all! peg kept counting and finding women with 4 kids, maximizing the gov benefits...............
