this was the first stop at normandy, some german gun emplacements at omaha beach. i am somewhat a WWII buff and have read extensively about the war. but this experience eclypsed any reading, it was overwhelming. the d-day invasion covered 60 miles of contiguous beach and was intentionally widespread to thin and dilute the german defenses. as you can see, these bunkers were built with such massive amts of concrete as to make them virtually impenatrable.
