omaha beach.............after seeing this, i don't understand how allies took this beach at all. this was the biggest slaughter of all the beach landings, over 3500. the bunkers were virtually enpenatrable and omaha was taken mainly because the germans were attacked in waves all day and ran short of ammo. a simple case of attrition............finally working. the germans had a huge panzer division that would have fortified omaha and prolly prevented landing here. they hesitated in sending it, thinking the real attack was coming to the north at calais. bravo to british intellegence, who had built a vast network of double-agents to convince the germans the main attack was to be north in calais or norway.
