bmw prohibited cameras in their plant, so i have to use some useless pics to share what was a life-changing experience. what a tour! our guide was a young fullbright scholar in munich from detroit to study german. the cars began with huge rolls of steel, and ended up as beautiful 3 series cars(800 per/day). huge 5 story dies stamped the metal into shape. after that 650 robots picked up the body sections and moved them in a sort of symphony to dyes for spot welding. no people were involved in any of this. robots were used anytime a worker had to bend or move unnaturally. all human work was done by standing or sitting normally. salaries are high here, $44 per/hr average. 4 to 6 weeks off in summer for holiday, with bonuses for good sales yrs. last yr they received 6 weeks pay bonus due to great sales. on site clinic for free med care. GET THIS-break room had beer and wine in vending machines. are u shittin me? the corporation removed these a few yrs back and quality went to hell, so........bring back the beer and wine!
