hemstead heath, sunday morning. this sits north of london on a hill. centuries ago, the town was a medical healing center. water wells here had chalybiate(iron) in them, and this was thought to heal all kinds of maladies. this was of course, before the advent of modern medicine and was mostly myth. the town was deserted when superstition changed, and it was thought that sea water had healing properties, everyone went to the seashore for the cure. so this, in the 19th century became an artist community. it remains so today. oscar wilde once lived here, with some boyfriend of his. so did john keats, and c.s. lewis.
