we had thought killeybegs was a small fishing village, and we wanted to watch the old fishermen come in on their boats with the days catch and meet their wives at the end of the day. we arrived in killeybegs in the evening and couldnt see the town, we went directly to a french restaurant for dinner. after dinner, i inquired of the owner as to where the fishing docks were, explaining my wife and i wanted to go down the next afternoon and watch the old men meet their wives with the day's catch. he looked at me like i had two heads, then said sternly "there are no small fishing boats or old men fishing....killeybegs is the largest fish port on the north sea". i felt about an inch tall.........a true ugly american moment.
