London-South Kensington-we were back for a second visit. this time peg and i scored a 4 star hotel on hotels.com for $97 per/nite. too good to pass up, so we ixnayed our usual practice of B&B, and enjoyed i bit of luxury. u see that little smartcar there? the british have universal health care, and prefer taxes as a way to offer many social benefits. gasoline approaches $7 per/gal with taxes being the main driver of price. unemployed brits frequently are 'on the dole' with minimum payments from their government to keep up with basic needs. brits normally "holiday" 4-6 weeks during summer. to an american, it seems lazy, but it seems to work just fine. their tax system cushons the blow and evens out the discrepencies between the haves and have-nots.
